Spiral Membrane Market Size (2023-2028):

Spiral Membrane Market is predicted to rise from $ 7.21 billion in 2022 to $ 10.20 billion in 2028, at an annual rate of 12.2% from 2023-2028

The spiral element is comprised of membranes, feed separators, permeate separators, and a permeate tube. The basic spiral element is a sandwich of flat membrane sheets, known as "sheets," wrapped around a perforated center tube. The membrane is arranged and folded in half with the membrane inward. The feed spacer is then placed between the folded membranes, forming a membrane sandwich. The work of a feed spacer is to offer a place for water to flow between the surfaces of the membrane and to let a smooth flow in between the sheets of the membrane. Spiral membranes are hermetic filter media where the permeable membrane is wrapped around a spiral-shaped central core.

The permeable membrane is sealed at the edges of the module and is separated from a separating material that allows the flow of the liquid to be filtered. The water to be filtered enters the membrane module in a spiral at one end and the filtration occurs when backpressure is applied to conduct clean water through the surface of the membrane. The spiral membrane modules can be employed in parallel and in series as needed to get the required levels of separation and concentration. The increasing adoption of the spiral membrane, due to the increased awareness of water and wastewater treatment, together with the requirement for selective separation to meet water quality standards, are major growth factors in the global spiral membrane market.

Spiral Membrane Market Drivers and Restraints

Stringent regulations by the Governments of many countries and Environmental regulatory acts such as the Clean Water Act (CWA), Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and Environmental Protection Act (EPA) have forced companies to eliminate highly toxic substances from water and work on water recycling. Spiral Membrane is used in these technologies and hence, it has witnessed high growth.

Growing population and rapid urbanization in developing countries have made clean drinking water a challenge, and with increasing disposable income in these economies, people are switching to RO, UF, and NF technologies which are giving a push to the spiral membrane market.

Restraints in the Spiral Membrane Market

High operating cost to the end-users remains a problem, although these technologies drive the spiral membrane market is becoming more affordable day by day. High maintenance cost for increasing the membrane lifespan is also a problem. The membrane has to be replaced periodically for its full functionality which is a costly affair.

Spiral Membrane Market Segmentation Analysis as per the latest report until 2028.

Spiral Membrane Market - By Polymer Type

  • Polyamide

  • PS

  •  PES

Polyamide type has the largest market share in Spiral Membrane Market, and its stock is projected to increase in the forecast period. It is because of its easy availability and being cost-efficient. Also, these membranes can operate in flexible operating conditions due to lower pressure requirements which makes them suitable for municipal and industrial effluent treatment applications.

Spiral Membrane Market - By Technology

  •  RO (Reverse OSmosis)

  • NF (NanoFiltration)

  • UF (UltraFiltration)

  • MF (MicroFiltration)

The RO segment has the largest market share and is projected to lead the segment in the forecast period. It’s very cost-effective and is mainly used in the desalination of seawater and brackish water. NF is, however, the fastest-growing segment because of its increasing use in water treatment applications.

Spiral Membrane Market - By End-Use

  • Water & Wastewater Treatment

  • Food & Beverages

  • Pharmaceutical & Biotechnology

  • Oil & Gas

Water & Wastewater treatment has the largest market share by end-use industry segment, and it is projected to grow its share in the forecast period. The presence of stringent Govt. in many companies has assured that industries indulge in treating their wastewater. Also, the rapidly growing urban population in developing economies and the need for clean water are pushing this segment.

Spiral Membrane Market - By Region
