Oregon Cherry Growers Inc. acquired the cherry business of Oregon-based Bell Foods International Inc. The Salem-based cherry processor, famous for its locally grown maraschino cherries, acquired Bell Foods' cherry business on February 26 as part of its growth strategy, according to a statement. Bell Foods founder and President Craig Bell will join Oregon Cherry Growers as an advisor, and his company will continue to produce and process products other than cherries.

Founded in 1923, Orchard View Farms is a family business that harvests more than 3,000 tons of fresh cherries each year. Orchard View is a recognized leader in using innovative solutions to improve fresh food safety, quality and practices.

Seneca Foods Corp. acquired Gray & Company, a Hart, Michigan-based supplier of maraschino cherries and one of the largest suppliers of ice cream or candied fruit products. The Company's products are sold as private label and branded items in the retail, club, restaurant and industrial markets. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
